The Empires (members Les Cooper (tenor), John "Buddy" Barnes (lead tenor), William Goodman (bass) and Bobby Dunn (baritone)) The first three members of group were from Norfolk, Virginia, but moved to New York in the late 1940's. It was here where they met Bobby Dunn who had come to New York from Henderson, North Carolina.
